VP Vaping Review: DarkStar Vapour

I found DarkStar vapour through an advert on Planet of the Vapes, which I clicked on. Their website has a good quality layout and is easy to navigate and find what is needed.

DarkStar vapour are a UK based company, there is a feel that they have been around a while (I’m unable to find when they launched) and they received a POTV (planet of the vapes) vendor of the month award in February 2014.

When I first came across DarkStar at the beginning of the year, they sold all their liquid in multiples of 10ml bottles, the more you got the cheaper it was. In the mean time DarkStar have redesigned their website and although the same theme remains, you can now only buy e-liquid  in single bottles.

DarkStar do a wide selection of juices in two different ranges.

An ‘originals’ range which are 60PG/40VG (I haven’t tried any of these) and ‘cloud’ range which are 20PG/80VG (this is my preferred ratio). They also sell everything you need to create and mix your own, which is something I’m planning on having a go at in the near future.

For my first purchase I took advantage of an offer they had on which was six bottles for £11.99 (normally £16.99 at the time) plus postage. On receiving my order the next working day, it was was well packaged and there was a very cool surprise –  an extra bottle!

I now know that DarkStar kindly put in an extra bottle of their choosing with every order, which is a great idea and incentive to return. This review is for both the first seven flavours I bought, and others i have tried in subsequent orders after the changes to the website where each flavour now costs £3.29 for 10ml. You still get a free bottle with every order, I also believe that there are discount codes that you can find too. All flavours come ready to use, no steeping required.

I should also add that I had a problem with one of my orders with one of bottles being the wrong nicotine strength. When I contacted them they were quick to respond and sent me out the correct item and also another bottle. This is fantastic customer service and still showing that they uphold that award they they got from POTV.

Device used: Dripex DBOX 30W @ 14 watts, Aspire Triton with 1.8ohm coil

Fruits of the Forest

This a wonderful, fruitful juice. All the fruits bounce around your month in a delightful but not overpowering way, it’s also not to sweet and makes for an excellent all day vape.

VP Review Rating: 9/10

Kiwiberry

This juice comes across as fairly refreshing, with a slight sharpness which the Kiwi brings to it, but the berries keep it sweet enough to be another fine all day vape.

VP Review Rating: 7/10

Strawberry Smoothie

I was a little disappointed with this,  I didn’t really get much more than a slight strawberry tone.

VP Review Rating: 3/10

Raspberry Candy

With this I think I was expecting to get a strong ‘sweets’ attack of sharp flavour that you get with sweets/candy, but I was left wanting with this, it definitely had sweet tones of raspberry, but I suppose I was hoping for a bit of a bite to it.

VP Review Rating: 3/10

Cherry Cola

I have to hold my hands up and say that I made a mistake here, as cola goes I only really like the well known make Coca Cola and so this was never going to appeal to me. As a juice, the flavour is very much a good cola, I would call it ‘Rola Cola’, unbranded cola and there are definite tones of the cherry. It’s a good juice, just not for me.

VP Review Rating: 4/10

Fruit Loops

Now this was my free bottle and I would not have chosen this, cereal juices don’t appeal. But I have been proven wrong with this before and this juice has done just that! The fruity cereal comes through very well and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. The measures are correct for a lovely vape and maybe even an all dayer.

VP Review Rating: 7/10

Apple Pie & Custard

This was divine, the best apple pie & custard I’ve tried to date, it’s going to take some matching. As you inhale, it’s like taking a bite into a pie that the apples are only just going soft, the pastry is light and crumbly and the custard is silky and smooth. A delightful vape and very moreish.

VP Review Rating: 10/10

Lemon Meringue Pie

I have an affectionate admiration for who ever mixed this little beauty. To start with I was put off by the colour of the juice, but this juice was amazingly accurate, the sharpness of the lemon is calmed by the sweetness of the meringue and a light pastry base is there in tones. This is not a juice I could vape all the time, but I’m glad it’s in my cupboard and can have it occasionally.

VP Review Rating: 8/10

Kiwi Crush

Very true to flavour, with a sharpness in the background, it is a lovely Kiwi vape that is refreshing and another all day juice.

VP Review Rating: 8/10

Vanilla Custard

This is very pleasant vape, I would say fairly delicate but a good vanilla custard. Nothing against the juice, but I feel like I want something more than just custard.

VP Review Rating: 7/10

Mint Blizzard

This was my free bottle with my second order and I wouldn’t normally touch this as I’m not keen on menthol. But I was pleasantly surprised at how vapeable it was and very smooth. Please don’t misunderstand me, this has not changed my opinion on menthol, but for those out there who do, I believe this is definitely one to try.

In conclusion this company is very good. You can tell that they have taken great care and attention to every detail. A very concise, clear cut website, the design of the bottles are great with a slightly longer, thinner spout for easy refill of tanks. The juice is extremely consistent across the range, with all juices producing great clouds of vape.

I will be returning to DarkStar for more juice and as I said earlier, I will also be taking a look at their range of products to mix my own.

If there were any constructive critisism to give, it would be that better descriptions of juices and a list of ingredients on concentrates would be helpful. Also it would be good to have a range of sizes other than 10ml, but not a huge issue. DarkStar obviously have their reasons for selling only in 10ml bottles.

I would recommend popping over to check DarkStar out.
