VP Vaping Review: Firestarter Vaping

Firestarter Vaping are a UK company based in Lancaster. They are a new company that have recently launched on to the market.

They are a team of people who have a wealth of experience in the food industry who have brought this expertise into making e-liquid. They have brought a collection of thirty two flavours, ranging from some very simple to some complex flavours.

Tina from Firestarter Vaping contacted me through Twitter and asked if I would do a review of some of their range. I duly obliged and went over to their website to take a look at what was on offer. I picked out some flavours that were already on the market, so to be able to do a comparison and a couple, well, because I like those flavours. Tina kindly sent me over six juices from the range for the purpose of review. I have to say here, they came in this awesome box that you can change into a display case, I really liked that (the simple things in life).

I am intrigued by the chosen name for the company, I have checked over the website and can’t find anything. I hope that in due course that the guys at Firestarter Vaping maybe able to enlighten me.

Firestarter Vaping have 32 flavours that come in 10ml bottles for £3.99, they all come in 0, 3 and 6mg nicotine strengths and are a 80VG/20PG mix.

The review I will be conducting will be a scent test from the open bottle of juice and then a flavour test on the devices listed below.

With no further a do, I’ll get on with the review.

Devices used:

  • Aspire Pegasus 70W @ 40watts, Aspire Triton2 with Clapton 0.5ohm coil
  • Innokin CoolFire plus 70W @ 40watts, Aspire Cleito with 0.4ohm coil
  • Joyetech Cuboid 150W @ 55watts, Geekvape Tsunami 24 with Dual Clapton 0.8ohm coils, wicked with Kendo Cotton

 Apple Pie

Scent: a lovely pastry with a slight hint of apple.

Flavour: I love an apple pie vape and I hadn’t had one for a while, so I was looking forward to this. When I smelt it, I thought I was in for a treat! I’m afraid I was disappointed, from the offset I got a very in your face sour note which masked the rest of the flavours. On the inhale I found it to be very much like unsweetened apples and on the exhale this continued but there was a beautiful buttery pastry fighting to get through. It needs more apple flavouring and something to combat the sourness. I don’t mind sour notes, but this was a little too much for me. It does however leave a long lasting smell of delicious pastry in the room.

VP Review Rating: 4/10

Black Astaire

Scent: a really strong smell of blackcurrants.

Flavour: it is funny to go from smelling nothing but fruit to then the taste of menthol. Oh wow this certainly packs a punch. On the inhale I get an almighty burst of menthol which calms down on the exhale and joined by subtle hints of blackcurrant and I think there is a little aniseed there too. Leaving you with a long lasting menthol freshness on the palate.  I know a friend on twitter who would love this. A must try for all you menthol vapers out there. A great likeness to the familiar flavour Black Astaire. It is not for me.

VP Review Rating: 5/10

Forest of the Fruits

Scent: mixed berries.

Flavour: through the inhale I get a berry mix which is hard to define, on the exhale it much of the same but getting notes of blueberry, strawberry, blackberry and blackcurrant. There is a slight bitterness to the vape, but not enough to be off putting. I don’t believe that these are layered fruit concentrates but a premix concentrate and that is why it is more difficult to define. A pleasant vape and an ADV for me.

VP Review Rating: 6/10

Scent: a mix of tropical fruits, but a overwhelming smell of pomegranate.

Flavour: now this is divine, an explosion of mixed tropical fruits all the way through the inhale on to the exhale. It is also a different blend of tropical fruits than others on the market, the pomegranate is very much in the foreground with the likes of star fruit and pineapple (which normally dominates) dancing around in there. Also right at the end of the exhale there is a grapefruit which is sweetened just enough to leave the palate refreshed. Definitely an ADV for me.

VP Review Rating: 8/10

Strawberry & Kiwi

Scent: hints of kiwi then strawberry.

Flavour: this flavour is one of my ADV’s so I was looking forward to this. I was not disappointed, on the inhale and through to exhale there is a beautifully smooth soft strawberry which is accompanied by a crisp kiwi making it wonderfully palatable and an ADV for me. There seems to be a finishing note of strawberry jam right on the tip of the exhale to make you wanting for more. I found it to be a little of a dry vape but nothing that was off putting.

VP Review Rating: 8/10

Summer Fruits:

Scent: strawberries and blueberries.

Flavour: this delightful juice brings you the taste of summer in a smooth and tasteful manner. On the inhale I get mainly strawberries and then on the exhale there is the arrival of blueberries and raspberries. Making for an excellent ADV for me.

VP Review Rating: 8/10

So to my conclusion, Firestarter Vaping has brought several good juices to the market, in my opinion I think a couple of them could do with a little tinkering. The juices produce some excellent vapour. There is a slight sharpness to some of the juices which for me makes them a little more authentic. They come in unicorn style plastic bottles with child safety caps and tamper rings. I love the packaging, the box they came is great and looking like a box of firelighters, which I assume was intentional. The website is clearly marked out and very easy to navigate. I wish them the best of luck on this new venture.

I would recommend going and checking out Firestarter Vaping.
