VP Vaping Review: Token Vape

Token Vape are a UK company based in Plymouth. They have an eight juice range and were established in 2015.

About six weeks ago Token Vape got in touch with me through Twitter, they had said that they had enjoyed how I put together a review and would i do a review for them. I have been aware of them for some time as they are regular contributors to Twitter conversations and I have heard good things about their juices. I was sent out the full range for the purpose of review.

We did speak at length about one of the juices and whether they should send it as I don’t like that particular flavour. I have said on many occasions that reviewing juices is not about if I like something or not, but it obviously does help. I can tell if something is good or not. It is about looking at a flavour, seeing if it delivers that flavour and if I think that someone would enjoy that flavour.

With the TPD coming into force next month Token Vape have gone down the route of selling zero nicotine strength juice with the option of buying and adding a nicotine shot.

You can buy the juice from www.TokenVape.co.uk, 30ml for £10.00 and 60ml for £18.00 and they are 0mg nicotine strength, they are a 70VG/30PG mix. Nicotine shots at £1.80 for a 10ml of 18mg nicotine strength and they are a 70VG/30PG mix.

The following is taken from their website:

30ML – Contains 20ML total volume of flavorings in 70VG / 30PG
Flavoured to allow for 10ML nicotine shot to be added
– Select this option to make a 30ML 6MG Bottle

60ML – Contains 50ML total volume of Flavourings in 70VG / 30PG
Flavoured to allow for 10ML nicotine shot to be added
– Select this option to make a 60ML 3MG Bottle

The review I will be conducting will be a scent test from the open bottle of juice and then a flavour test on the devices listed below.

With no further a do, I’ll get on with the review.

Devices used:

  • Joyetech Cuboid 150W @ 70watts, Geekvape Tsunami 24 with Dual Clapton 0.8ohm coils, wicked with Kendo Cotton
  • Aspire Pegasus 70W @ 40watts, Aspire Triton2 with Clapton 0.5ohm coil
  • Innokin CoolFire plus 70W @ 40watts, Aspire Cleito with 0.4ohm coil

Samic Berry

Scent: creamy strawberry.

Flavour: have you ever had fresh strawberries and balsamic vinegar? If not, why not? Really is a great combination. Don’t you dare be put off by this combination. This juice is a must try and brings a different take on strawberries and cream.

On the inhale I get this wonderfully full-bodied rich strawberry cream that comes rolling in in waves. There is this tarty, but sweet back note of the balsamic vinegar which comes in right at the back of the inhale, just adds that little something that makes it unique. There is a slight throat hit, but its not off putting. On to the exhale and the two flavours intertwine making for a moreish ADV for me. A must try.

Kernow Tales

Scent: strawberries, cream with a hint of bakery.

Flavour: oh my goodness, this is a very clever juice. Love a juice that brings back memories, times spent down in Cornwall and Devon camping and their wonderful cream teas. Though I’m not a fan of tea, I do love a scone with clotted cream and jam.

I did find that every inhale would bring a slightly different experience, but in general the flavours hit at similar times. On the inhale I got layers of thick luscious cream that came in on a soft freshly baked scone with an ample amount of strawberry jam. On to the exhale and this continued with the jam popping out a little more and leaving the palate feeling creamy. I also found as I finished the exhale that there was this hint/scent of a tea, not knowing my teas I couldn’t tell you which one. Absolutely divine and an ADV for me.

Tatin Anglaise

Scent: buttery apples.

Flavour: I’m going to have to say it again, oh my goodness. I lovely take on an apple tart, the french would call it Tart Tatin.

On the inhale I get these delightful apples that have been saute in butter, though there are some sharp notes I would say that the apples are more on the sweet side. There is almost a taste that the edges of the apples have caramelised. Right at the back of the inhale there are hints to a rich vanilla custard. On to the exhale and the custard comes further forward and there is a back note of a soft pastry. As a personal preference I would like a little more pastry to come through, but as it stands an excellent blend of cooked apples and a little custard. Another ADV for me.

Sweet Salt

Scent: soft caramel with a hint of wafer.

Flavour: haha, this is by far the cleverest and best use of coolada I have ever experienced. It is well documented that I’m not a fan of menthol/coolada/mint vapes and until now I have always thought that coolada doesn’t work with ice-cream flavours. This juice does work very well. As I vape this juice it makes think I’m on the beach with an Italian wafer cone with vanilla ice-cream drizzled with a caramel sauce.

On the inhale i get this rich vanilla ice-cream(what I would call posh ice-cream) and a lovely soft, slightly salty(it maybe the sea air) caramel. There is a hint of an Italian wafer as a back note. On to the exhale and the wafer comes further forward. The coolada is so cleverly done that it just gives the slightest sensation of my mouth getting colder. I did have to have a few inhales to realise what was going on. A delightful ADV for me, I’m giving extra rating just for the pure genius of the juice.

VP Review Rating: 10/10

Cafe Zero

Scent: blueberry muffin.

Flavour: so I was a little confused to start, from the name I thought of coffee and then I smelt the juice and I got the blueberries and muffin. I had to chuckle that in fact it is a combination of the two.

On the inhale I initially get a creamy coffee which is soon overtaken by baked blueberries in abundance and a delightfully fresh muffin as a following note. On to the exhale and the blueberries just dance around my taste buds with the muffin accentuating but still a back note. These do die down a little and the creamy coffee returns as a finisher. Certainly one to start the day on, but not quite an ADV for me.

Black Rice

Scent: aniseed and blackcurrant.

Flavour: it is well documented that aniseed is one of those flavours I do not like to vape or eat or in fact anything to do with. I find with sniseed juices that they come across too in your face and also found them rather harsh to vape. However, I have come across a couple of juices that the aniseed is a welcome addition to the vape.

This juice is very much an aniseed vape, but its delivery is soft and smooth. On the inhale I get this soft aniseed and then there is this really juicy blackcurrant that surrounds the aniseed, bursting at all corners of the mouth. On to the exhale and this continues with the blackcurrant still sitting as a back note, but popping out in front on occasion. Once again some very clever measuring and if you love an aniseed vape, then you are going to love this.

What I actually like most about this, is that it hasn’t been done with menthol which it so often has. It’s not for me, but i recognise a good job well done.

VP Review Rating: 5/10

Lemorello

Scent: sweetened fresh lemon with a back note of cake.

Flavour: a lot of people say that vaping saved their lives, well I also say that it saved my waist too. I love cake and so I am a very happy man with a cake vape. At first I was drawn to a lemon drizzle cake and then I could sense something else, a darker fruit and I couldn’t quite tell what it was, I then licked my lips and there it was just sitting there waiting to be discovered, big juicy dark cherry.

On the inhale I immediately hit with a fresh lemon syrup, which is closely followed in by a soft, moist vanilla sponge. On to the exhale and all these flavours accentuate with sharp and sweet lemon notes pinging at my taste buds. In the back ground a dark fruit arrives, I’m not clearly defining it until I lick my lips and then I’m put into black cherry heaven. Sublime juice, is it an ADV? Oh my yes it is!

VP Review Rating: 10/10

Coil Nut Flakes

Scent: sweetened peanuts.

Flavour: I’m in all of a muddle over this juice. It has amazed me and has given me slight disappointment. I will try to explain, this is another cracking juice where the measurements are really well done. This juice is Crunchy Nut Cornflakes and milk, it is a crazily well done. It is in fact one of my favourite cereals to eat.

The blend of peanuts, honey and cornflakes is sublime and a creamy milk behind. But, though effective there is a small amount of coolada added and for me on a personal level I don’t think is needed.

On the inhale I get this wonderful blend of peanut, honey and cornflakes which drifts in on a wave of cooled creamy milk. This continues on to the exhale with the cornflakes blend becoming more prominent, really being able to pick out the peanuts and the honey. If it didn’t have the coolada it would be top marks from me. It is still an ADV for me.

So to my conclusion, I find that Token Vape have brought some outstanding juices to the market, my only disappointment is that i haven’t tried these sooner. All the juices deliver some excellent full-bodied flavours that are very different to what is already out there. They all produce some excellent vapour.

The bottles I received were unicorn style with child safety caps. They have a great website which is easy and clear to navigate and has some good images.

I have been really impressed with each and every juice, I can tell a lot of time and effort has gone into creating this excellent range. This is small company doing some big juices and all I ask go and check them out, you will not be disappointed, I promise. Wishing Token Vape the best of luck and I hope that you are here for years to come. My hat is off to you sir, great juice.

I would highly recommend going and checking out Token Vape.
