I have never been to an award ceremony of any kind, so with great surprise late on Wednesday I had a message from Decadent Vapours inviting me to join them at this years Vapouround Awards. I was a little excited to say the least.
The Vapouround Awards were being held at the NEC at one of the Concourse suites that there were and it was being held in the evening after the B2B on the Friday. I organised myself a hotel for the night, so that I could have a drink and also be close enough to walk to the Vaper Expo which I was also attending for the weekend (you can read about that by clicking here).
My thoughts then turned to, what do I wear? I have nothing to wear for a prestigious event like this. So I headed off down into my local town, I knew who would be able to help, Dave at Alberts Menwear in Rugby. Dave new exactly what I needed and after a few changes I had myself an outfit and was feeling mighty dapper. Thanks Dave.
Friday the weather was really hot, I left B2B a little early so that I could get myself ready for the evening. The event started at seven with some drinks and then the ceremony started at eight with a meal.
During drinks I met Dal a friend of Jay The Demon Vaper, Dal was standing in for Jay as he was unable to make it, a wonderful bloke and we spent some time having a chat about the Expo and the pending awards. Also there were magicians going round doing some card tricks which were very good.
Just before we were about to be ushered into be seated, Archie and his team from Decadent Vapours turned up and I was able to have a quick word before we sat down.
As we sat down the starter was already in front of us and there was this lovely brochure with information about the previous awards, the hosts, the entertainment, advertising, the awards and the menu, just to wet your appetite, here it is.
Parma Ham, Crisp Pancetta and Bocconcini salad, preserved tomatoes, boscaila olives, Dijon mustard dressing.
Chicken Breast Coq au Vin style, Creamed parsley potatoes. Green Beans and Red Wine.
Truffle of White Chocolate, vanilla infused Anglaise and marbled chocolate sticks.
Coffee and Chocolate mints.
It was amazing!
The event started with Paul from Vapouround Magazine making a small speech and then introduced the hosts – Ashley from Strawberry Queen and Johnnie from BHVape store in Bournemouth and JuiceEFruit E-Liquids. Excellent hosts and with some very funny moments.
The awards started to be given out with the sponsors of each award being asked to come up and present the award. It stopped about half way through for some entertainment by Nick Einhorn a magician. There were also other magicians going round from table to table doing magic tricks and the guy that came to us was very impressive. Still trying to work out how he did some of them.

My final thoughts
I had the most wonderful of evenings and this was mainly down to the excellent company of Archie and the Decadent Vapour team. They were great fun and I hope to have the opportunity to meet up with them again. The only disappointment was that we were having so much fun that I forgot to get a photo with the guys.
The hosts were fantastic, the food delightful and just maybe a good few beers.
Another highlight for me was to see Jay The Demon Vaper who I have been following from the start just over a year ago win best dessert for Lemon Lush. Which I had put down as my number one juice for 2016, I must know something about juice then. I had to take a picture with his award.
It was a great experience to see something slightly different in the industry, thank you to Vapouround and the NEC for putting on this excellent evening.
