VP Vaping Review: One Hit Wonder

One Hit Wonder are an American company based in Los Angeles. They have several ranges with seventeen juices and they are an 80VG/20PG mix..

I went to Vape Jam UK 3 this year and had a really enjoyable time (you can read about my visit by clicking here). I met lots of companies that I hadn’t met before and some that I knew very well. One of the companies I hadn’t met before was One Hit Wonder, I had a brief chat with the guys at One Hit Wonder and they asked me if I would do a review of some of their juices and gave me nine juices from their various ranges for the purpose of review.

I have mentioned many times before that going to events and trying juice can come across as being amazing and then you buy some, get it home and into your own device and it doesn’t quite live up to expectation. Please read on and let’s take a look and see what I think of these juices.

The review I will be conducting will be a scent test from the open bottle of juice and then a flavour test on the devices listed below.

With no further a do, I’ll get on with the review.

Devices used:

  • Joyetech Cuboid 150W @ 70watts, Geekvape Tsunami 24 with Dual Clapton 0.8ohm coils, wicked with Kendo Cotton
  • Aspire Pegasus 70W @ 40watts, Aspire Triton2 with Clapton 0.5ohm coil
  • Innokin CoolFire plus 70W @ 40watts, Aspire Cleito with 0.4ohm coil

The Man

Scent: strawberry milk.

Flavour: this juice is a strawberry milk, lovely and creamy. Strawberry milk is a very popular flavour and quite a few companies have done their own take. Some companies put in a sour note for the milk, which for me makes it taste like it has gone off. This juice does not have these sour notes, leaving me with a very creamy strawberry milk. A very good take on a popular flavour.

On the inhale I get a rich soft fresh strawberry, which starts to become creamy at the back of the inhale. On to the exhale and strawberry becomes a little sweeter, a bit more syrup like, but still very creamy. Easily an ADV for those who love a creamy strawberry vape.

VP Review Rating: 7/10

My Man

Scent: chocolate and strawberry with ice-cream tones.

Flavour: this juice has taken me by surprise. With the smell of chocolate I was expecting the flavour to be very dominant, but it isn’t. Yes there is a good measure of chocolate, but there are good measures of vanilla and strawberry that come in too. This juice is a Neapolitan ice-cream.

On the inhale I am greeted by a soft creamy chocolate which is followed in and taken over by a vanilla ice-cream at the back of the inhale. On to the exhale the creamy vanilla comes through wonderfully well to start and then moves back letting through a strawberry ice-cream and there are hints of the chocolate again. A lovely ADV for me.

Magic Man

Scent: smells like gummy bears.

Flavour: ha ha, it tastes like gummy bears too! For me, it comes across like a selection of candied mixed fruits, but with a dominant candied watermelon. It also has the very distinctive after taste that you get from gummy bears. Very Clever.

On the inhale I get this wondrous blend of fruity gummy bears. On to the exhale this just explodes over my palate with a candied watermelon that sits high above the other fruits and leaves me with that distinctive after taste that gummy bears do. An ADV for me.

VP Review Rating: 8/10

Mila’s Macarons

Salted Caramel

Scent: sweet caramel.

Flavour: for me this juice comes across quite delicate. A sweet slightly nutty meringue with a sweet caramel cream sitting behind it. I felt that I wanted a little more from it, but that might be just me.

On the inhale I get a sweet caramel. On to the exhale and the caramel turns creamy and I then get the macaron pushing through. All delicately balanced and leaves me with a creamy palate with a hint of caramel. Not quite an ADV for me.

VP Review Rating: 6/10

Pistachio

Scent: sweetened pistachio.

Flavour: oh wow, this one comes across much fuller than the Salted Caramel. I love pistachio and I love a nutty vape. The pistachio, though it is creamy is really good.

On the inhale I get a delightful pistachio which is later joined by the macaron. On to exhale and the pistachio becomes creamy and accentuates. The macaron sits happily in the background and makes for an ADV for me.

VP Review Rating: 8/10

Strawberry

Scent: sweet fresh strawberry.

Flavour: as with the Salted Caramel I find myself wanting a little more. The strawberry comes across like a syrup with the cream and the macaron is delicately placed.

On the inhale I get a hint of strawberry which builds into a creamy strawberry. On to the exhale and the creamy strawberry continues through and the macaron sits in the background. Not quite an ADV for me.

VP Review Rating: 6/10

Pierre’s Toast

Smores French Toast

Scent: a bit like a maple syrup

Flavour: for me this juice is like chocolate spread on sweet toast. The chocolate is very dominating in the vape with more of a hint towards a sweet toast. If you like a chocolate/bakery type vape then I think that you will like this.

On the inhale I am met with a chocolate that builds into the inhale. On to the exhale and the chocolate fills out and is joined by a back note of sweet toast. As I said the chocolate is very dominant but still a very pleasurable vape. It’s not quite an ADV for me.

VP Review Rating: 6/10

Peanut Butter and Jelly French Toast

Scent: peanut butter with a hint of jam.

Flavour: wow, this is lovely. I really enjoy a peanut butter vape, so there is no surprise that I love this juice. There are hints to the jam (which I think is strawberry) and then this beautiful coarse (meaning slightly nuttier) peanut butter and a similar sweet toast as the Smores French Toast. Love it!

On the inhale I get the sweet toast with a hint to the jam right at the back of the inhale. On to the exhale the toast moves back with a short hint of jam and then the peanut butter comes out to play. It builds into the exhale leaving me with a very nutty palate. An ADV for me.

VP Review Rating: 8/10

Pepe’s Churros

Strawberry Shortcake

Scent: creamy strawberry.

Flavour: another great bakery vape. The juice is very much about the churros, but with this lovely surprise of a strawberry cream that pops up in the back ground and to finish. I think the shortcake is a little lost within the churros, but still a lovely vape.

On the inhale I get a lovely freshly baked churro. On to the exhale and the churro continues through and accentuates. There are hints to a strawberry cream that pop up, but as I finish the exhale I am left with the taste of strawberry cream on my palate. An ADV for me.

So to my conclusion, I find that One Hit Wonder have brought a varied selection of mainly dessert type vapes. The juices deliver some good flavours and produce some excellent vapour. I have some mixed feelings towards the ranges, some of the flavours are really on point whilst others I’ve been left wanting. I think that with some of these flavours it will definitely be down to personal choice, but I believe that they are worth a try.

The samples I received came in unicorn style bottles with child safety caps and tamper rings. They are all TPD/TRPR compliant. I love the labeling all in bright colours which make them stand out. They have a great website which is clear and easy to navigate. I do find it a little odd that three of the ranges cannot be seen on their website.

They will be attendance at the London Vape Show this weekend, if you would like to come along get 50% off your ticket with the code POGFINDR50.
