NewGen Tech Co are a Chinese company based in Shenzhen. They are a new company and have two pieces of hardware to their name.
I was contacted by NewGen and asked if I would do a review for them. I was sent the Meson RTA (check out my review by clicking here) and the Quark RDA for the purpose of review. The Quark is what I have for you today, there are a lot of RDA’s on the market at the moment. Read on and see my thoughts of this one from a new company and how it fairs.
What comes in the box:
- 1 x Quark RDA
- 1 x 510 Drip Tip
- 1 x 510 Drip Tip Adapter
- 1 x User Manual
- 2 x Allen Keys
- 1 x Gold Plated Squonk Pin
- 3 x Spare O-Rings
- 2 x Spare Grub Screws
- 1 x Pre-built Coil
Taking a look at the box
On the front of the box you will find the name of the device, company logo and a sticker indicating the colour of the device. On the back you will find the company logo, company contact information, box contents and some warning symbols.
On the top side you will find information about the RDA. On the bottom side the company logo.
On another side the company social media links and on the final side the company website address.
The Quark RDA specifications:
- 22mm Diameter
- Single Coil, Easy Installation
- Superior Stainless Steel Design
- Honeycomb Airflow Design
- 7mm Deep Juice Well
- MTL/DTL Compatible
- 510 BF Pin for Squonking
The size of the device:
- Height – 22mm (not including drip tip and 510 connector pin)
- Width – 22mm
Taking a look at the device
On the top cap you will find a wide bore (Goon style) Ultem drip tip and some grooves notched to aid with twisting the top cap to change the airflow. On the main part of the RDA you will find Quark engraved in the side.
The airflow is a five hole honeycomb style and the airflow adjustment is designed to fill one hole at a time. Looking at the base of the RDA (below, bottom right) you can see it has an adjustable gold plated 510 pin. It also has the name of the device, the companies name, a couple of warning symbols and a model number.
Looking at the deck below you can see that it is a dual post single coil design with great side access to the posts for your coil. There is a fairly large juice well and there is also good access to trim coil leads.
Thoughts and Conclusions
Through testing this RDA I have constantly felt the need to tinker with it as I have felt that it wasn’t quite living up to its potential. Don’t get me wrong it certainly delivers a lot of vapour and the flavour is good but I feel it could be better.
I cannot fault the build quality of this RDA and everything works together in a very smooth motion.
I’ve moved the coil about, but I think it is down to the airflow and where the posts are in conjunction with the coil. Normally I would have the airflow horizontal with the coil and by doing this with this RDA nearly half the coil does not get an immediate hit from the air coming in. I have found it best when I have directed the airflow at an angle to try and miss the post.
With regards to the airflow, it is plentiful. I like using it with four holes (covering one). I do like a device to give more airflow than I want and turn it down because it means I do have the option of opening it up if I want. There are too many devices that I need use at max airflow to get my preferred vape, there is no room for change.
I do love how easy it is to build on this RDA and you could get some really meaty coils in it. I do think that the posts get in the way of the airflow which is a shame for me because it could have been quite a flavour power house. It is not poor by the way, I just get a feeling it could deliver more.
Not the wow factor for me, but certainly a good single coil RDA.
- Great build quality
- Easy to build on
- Produces lots of vapour
- Great adjustable airflow
- I believe the posts get in the way of the airflow hitting the coil
